Off to the Laughlin River Run and to Test the HydraLift with a bigger bike and one with fairing. Previously, this carried a 2001 Road King now it is carrying a 2009 Harley Ultra Classic CVO which weighs approximately 900lbs. What a treat not to have to take the trailer with us. Just put the bike on the rack use some tie-downs and off we go. Easy on and Easy off!

Hydralift-Folded up

Another fun night at the races. Toyota Speedway called it a Night of Destruction and by the looks of Gary’s car it pretty much was. Gary was able to get through the race and got 19th out of 39 cars. A first timer to Skid Plate Racing Rick Dial was able to avoid most of the mayhem and ended up in the top ten.

Next, lets put the tires on and do a road course. They called it an Enduro Race. Gary was being aggressive as usual and bumped and prodded his way up to 1st place by lap 20. However, on the last lap one of those cars Gary gave a little bump to came back and did it to him. He spun but was able to keep it together to get 2nd place. Gary is also very proud of holding the Track Record for the Fastest Enduro Car.

Gary is looking forward to taking his Skid Plate Car that is sponsored by Rancho Auto Parts in Temecula and by Mufflers West  out on the track next year.

Here at Mufflers West we get a lot of customers that bring their Hot Rods in to be worked on. Practice went well for the Legends and the Skid Plate Car. Gary qualified 10 out of 20 in the Legends and was hoping that by the time the race started his car would hook up a bit better than it did.

 Gary  finished 9th over all however he is happy and is willing to do whatever it takes to get his car  to be more competitive. Sadly the points leader Brent Scheidemantle blew a motor. Let’s hope he is back out there soon. Congratulations to  the  Legends Race winner ~ Darren Amidon.#33

Jimmy Smith is hooked on Skid Plate Racing!

Skid Plate Race was fun but a bit of a disappointment because the car blew a head gasket. So with sparks flying and smoke trialing Gary struggled around the track until it just wouldn’t go anymore.

We are keeping our eyes wide open looking for a new little jewel for next year.

Once the Green light is on the slipping and sliding and spinning begin. Last Saturday night approximately 28 cars participated in this race. The crowds in the grandstands were having a great time seeing if their favorite drive could maneuver thru the carnage. Once a car is out of commission it just sits there and creates an obstacle course for the remaining drivers.

Gary Scheuerell of Mufflers West decided that he would like to give it a try so the search began for a car that was a 4 cylinders front wheel drive and pretty much abandoned by its owner. If you have a 6 cylinder car you must disable two of the cylinders to compete.  Gary found a car and Rancho Auto Parts in Temecula decided to sponsor him with some parts to get it all going. Gary did very well for his first time out. He finished the race and came in 11^th which is remarkable since others did not even get a chance to cross the finish line! This what Gary’s Skid Plate Car looked like after the race. He had a blast and is ready to do it again!

After the race

On this Pontiac Trans Am a custom Flow Master exhaust with dual tailpipes and custom tips were installed to give the customer the throaty V-8 tone he was looking for.

On this 57 Lincoln Continental Mufflers West installed a stock original equipment exhaust system to replace a system that was worn out.

When lubricating the wheel bearings on your boat trailer you must always use Marine Grease NOT conventional wheel bearing grease. Marine Grease has a high water resistance which gives protection against rust and corrosion. It is an ideal choice for boat trailer bearings and buddy bearings.

New Tires Required by 600 Racing. Legend car racers got a chance to use their new Federal Tires Saturday May 8 at Toyota Speedway in Irwindale. Some were very leery about the new tires and others just went with it. The new tires seem to have a softer sidewall and defiantly have a different tread than the BF Goodrich that were previously being used. Chad Schug even stated that he felt the BF Goodrich tires were faster, that may be true for now. All of the drivers qualifying had slower times than previous races. This however could be due to the learning curve they all have to go through to see what changes in set up that may need to be made. The top 5 Qualifiers were Brent Scheidemantle, Chad Schug, Mark Brochetta, Hunter Colodny, and Gary Scheuerell.

The main event was pretty uneventful until about halfway when the 77 andthe13 car had a little racing incident that caused them to both to get a free ride to the back of the pack. Meanwhile Brent Scheildmantle in first place had Chad Shug trying his best to find the power in his car to pass him… unfortunately for Chad that did not happen. Brent secured the lead and kept it for another Win!
